Lars Windhorst - A Fortuitous Beginning
48Since Lars Windhorst could read, he’s been following the stock market and making profitable investments. At the age of fourteen, Lars Windhorst made his first investments in the stock market and by age fifteen had embarked on his first entrepreneurial endeavor.
Traveling to China and purchasing cheap electronic parts, which he assembled at home in Germany and sold in his father’s store, Lars Windhorst was able to capitalize on the effects of globalization from an early age.
After only a year in business, Lars Windhorst attracted the attention of a Ming Rong Zhang, a young Chinese businessman, and in partnership they founded Windhorst Electronics. Within a year Windhorst Electronics sold over $50 million in electronics and Lars Windhorst became widely known throughout Europe and Asia for his remarkable business talents.
By the early 1990s, Germany was a buzz with talk of “the German Bill Gates” and named Lars Windhorst “Germany’s Most Successful Entrepreneur.” Lars Windhorst was also invited to attend the World Economic Forum and was the youngest world leader to participate.
Continued Growth
By 1995 Lars Windhorst began his second business as an extension of the successful Windhorst Electronics and established Windhorst Asia Pacific Holdings Ltd. As Lars Windhorst continued to strengthen the connection between Europe and Asia, Windhorst created an investment firm, Windhorst AG and Windhorst Capital Holding GmbH. However, after the dot come bubble burst in 2001, Windhorst’s businesses went bankrupt and he embarked on a new endeavor.
Current Global Enterprises
In 2004, Lars Windhorst co-founded Sapinda with a prosperous South African family. As the head of Sapinda, in the first few years Lars Windhorst lead the company to carry out more than 2 million EUR of investments.
Due to the current economic recession, Lars Windhorst has restructured Sapinda and currently is the head of Sapinda Deutschland GmbH.
